Buenos Aires, Latin American Law Program, Day 12

It's nice to not be debilitating hungover during class.  I mean, class is still not really that fun.  But, it's a lot better when you are not craving a medialuna just for survival.  We planned on going to Tigre after class to tour the river and see the area.  It's one of those things you're supposed to do when you visit Buenos Aires for more than a week.

I had to run to the Disco before class to grab some snacks because Rebecca read that it would be difficult to buy anything there.  Since I was running late, I just grabbed the contents of one aisle.  Good thing I like pringles.

After class, we headed to the Retiro (the bus station) and bought train tickets out to Tigre.  There are two train options: the commuter train the whole way which is an hour, or the commuter way part of the way and then the scenic train that is an hour and a half.  We went with the commuter train.  The ride was rough.  Packed cars, no where to sit, lots of people around.  I mean it was like being on the subway for an hour.

Once we got to Tigre, we walked over to the Port that was right by the McDonald's (best public bathrooms we'd seen).  We debated taking one of those big tourist boats, but instead opted for a private boat negotiated by Emery.  Unfortunately, our boat driver didn't really speak English, which was fine.

Tigre is pretty self explanatory.  There is the old house that used to belong to the beloved Sarimento.  Lots of other cute houses.  There are a bunch of little beaches, too.  It's just like the redneck riviera on the Mississippi River.  There are old boats that looked shipwreked, museums, and fruit stands on boats.  There are also a bunch of tourist boats that offer a narrated tour, which probably would have been pretty helpful.

We spent the afternoon on the boat, and then had a picnic with Quilmes in the garden.  We had some awesome helado to continue our ice cream tour of South America.  We headed back in to Buenos Aires so that we could all do some work before dinner.

We had diner at Don Julio, which was debatabley our favorite steak of the trip.  They couldn't accommodate all eight of us, so we split into two tables of four.  Jennifer, Zac, Alan, and I went through three bottles of wine.  The boys each had 1.5 huge steaks.  We got Salsa Golf.  Great sides.  Grilled Proveleta. We had an awesome dinner.

After being a little overserved, and getting a little loud, we decided to head in after an evening of overindulgence.
