Buenos Aires, Latin American Law Program, Day 11

Theme of the day: torture.  It was torture getting up.  It was torture going to class an hour before our usual meeting tome.  It was torture going to the Escuela de Suboficiales de Mecánica de la Armada.

Amelia was concerned about her shoulder being veiny and was, allegedly going to the doctor, so she missed the torture museum.  Of course, she didn't go to the doctor.  And, to add some irony, it turned out she had a blood clot in her shoulder that she should have taken care of that prevented her from being able to go to Mendoza while we were in Uruguay.

Escuela de Suboficiales de Mecánica de la Armada is a museum erected in place of a navy school that was used to torture dissidents during Argentina's dirty way.  While it was an interesting piece of history, Alan, Zac, and I just could not handle it.  There were lots of small dimly lit spaces with no circulation.

I had been getting light headed in the basement, so, at one point, I decided that I could not handle the attic and just didn't go up there.  One professor and two other students also decided that they could not take it. This security guard took us aside and showed up some of his crafts that he created to deal with the pain of the Dirty Way.  It was intense.

After we left the museum and headed home we napped and then got up only to relax.  Alan came over, and Zac brought us empanadas from the good empanada place.  We watched Rush Hour 2, drank cheap wine, and took it easy for the night.
