After a wonderful evening on the town in Berlin, we got a slow start to the morning. A few days prior, I was e-introduced (mutual friend sent an email to both of us which Gmail now believes we have sent back and forth over 70 times) to a new friend, Rachel, who just moved to Berlin from New York for her work. Rachel was to join the evening program at Arena.
We planned to meet at KaDaWe. It’s a department store like Harrodd’s. It also has several thousand kinds of cheese, and several restaurants on it’s roof. We went up to the top of the building, which had a very nice view of the city. Unfortunately, we were rushed out before Rachel arrived. The Germans are serious about their closing times.

We met Rachel outside of KaDaWe and then took the U-Bahn to the Arena.
The Arena is a riverside live-music venue that looks out onto the Spree and has a pool that you can swim in where it looks as if you are swimming in the Spree. The concert ended relatively early and we headed in for the night.
