Another day, another heap of classes and exercises. We had a really jam packed day.
Right after class, we went to the Jüdisches Museum (Jewish Museum). A group of us went led by our friend Eric who wrote his college thesis on the Berlin Jewish Museum. Even though they denied us the student rate, the museum was really well done. The Jewish Museum has a few important features. It is build on different Axises (Axis of Holocaust, etc.) and has some interesting architectural work. For example, there is a corner with only a single small light. It is really difficult to explain the niche, but it feels creepy, and its significance is open to interpretation. I think it represents the closing in of the walls, so to speak, on the Jews during the Holocaust. The museum is very thourough in its representation of Jews from ancient times to modern ones, of course, paying special attention to the Holocaust. Very cool museum.
After we exhausted ourselves at the Jewish Museum, Anne and I grabbed a Doner Kabap next door. Best of the time in Berlin, and we had a lot of Doner in Berlin. Anne and I arranged for us, Robyn, and Frederik to attend a baroque musical performance at the Berlin Dom called Barok Fest. It was wonderful. One of the highlights of our entire time in Berlin. It featured works from Bach, Vivaldi, etc. I had an obstructed view. And, when we tried to take a picture, we caught the couple behind us making out.
After the performance, we joined the official evening program at Beach Bar. There was a big sand volleyball court and we missed the volleyball but stayed for the beach party. Before the end of the night, we taught flip cup to members of several different countries. We could call it America’s greatest export.
